Heywood Charities fete

Date published: 03 May 2014

The organisers of the Heywood Charities fete are now booking stalls and speaking to people who want to enter the parade, which is planned to go ahead on Sunday 7 September.

The organisers contacted Sir Cliff Richard at his villa in the Algarve to invite him to be part of this year’s parade and though he turned down the invitation he sent his best wishes.

Responding through his PA, the star informed organisers that he would not be able to attend and included the message: “I hope the fete is a thoroughly enjoyable occasion for all concerned.”

George Kinder, committee member for the fete said: “Unfortunately Sir Cliff will be overseas on 7 September 2014 but he wishes us well and hopes we have a fantastic day.”
