Passengers evacuated at Castleton Train Station
Passengers had to be evacuated from a train at Castleton Train Station, Rochdale on Monday (28 April) after reports of smoke coming from the engine.
Northern Rail said that an “engine fault was the cause of the smoke and not a fire”.
The driver of the train reported the smoke and evacuated passengers shortly after 6.00pm.
The engine fault was addressed before passengers were allowed back on the train and taken to Rochdale Train Station.
The train was then taken to the depot to be examined further.
