Hamer Community Primary School

Welcome Back!
It was good to see everyone back in school after the Easter break, we hope that all children are well rested particularly our Year 6 who are all working hard in preparation for the SATs tests in May.

On Friday 25 April, our Foundation Unit children enjoyed the entry point to their new IPC unit which is all about teddy bears. The children were all invited to bring a favourite teddy in to school. They made jam sandwiches and all came together to have a picnic. All the children had a fabulous time with stories and this week they will be able to write about their experiences of today!

Also on Friday the children in UKS2 celebrated the end of their IPC unit based on myths and legends. Everyone entered into the spirit of the afternoon by dressing up as a character they had studied. The afternoon consisted of a circuit of activities including a series of Herculean tasks which everyone enjoyed, a banquet eating and drinking the food of the gods, a quiz regarding what they had studied and an opportunity to watch a film about Jason and the Argonauts. Everyone joined in and had a great time celebrating what they had learnt.

In school we have held a number of teaching and learning mornings. Two of our students were invited to do a presentation about this at the Bella Vista. Their audience included senior leaders from a number of schools across the borough. Zia Khan and Ayesha Razzaq delivered an excellent presentation on behalf of their classmates explaining how these mornings have assisted them with their progress in school and how, through the ‘Student Voice’ they have all built their confidence to express themselves and how this has assisted their overall learning experiences in school.

Well done to all the children who have taken part in this and a big thank you to Zia and Ayesha who made us all very proud!
