Oulder Hill table-tennis teams perform exceptionally well

Date published: 24 April 2014

The Oulder Hill Years 7 and 8 Boys and Girls table-tennis teams performed exceptionally well at the Greater Manchester School Games Table-Tennis Tournament before the Easter holidays.

The Boys narrowly missed out on qualifying for the latter stages of the tournament having beaten Woodhey High School and finishing above Cheadle Hulme School in their group league table. Unfortunately, the team had a very difficult draw coming up against Hulme Grammar School and a very strong team from Charter Academy (Tameside), who both qualified for the next phase of the competition.

The team were as follows: Rory Lee Potter, Danny Devine, Adam Laitif and Marcus Welsby.

Notable performances were from Rory Potter and Marcus Welsby who won the majority of their individual games.

The Girls also performed well, coming fourth overall in their competition.

The girls were as follows: Lydia Entwistle, Niamh Entwistle, Lucy Perrin and Sarah Whiting.

All the pupils enjoyed the day and relished the opportunity of playing other champion teams from different authorities.

Year 10 students will be undertaking their Languages Assessment 3 and History Controlled Assessment this week. Please encourage your child to prepare thoroughly for these assessments, more information of which is available from your child’s subject teacher.

The Year 11 GCSE Art Exam will be taking place from Tuesday until Friday of this week.
