Falinge Park High School
Many thanks to all the parents, friends and students who attended our premiere drama performance of ‘See See TV’ on Thursday this week. Two shows took place during the day and in the evening. Congratulations to the cast for such a strong piece and team effort to deliver a piece about e-safety and society’s obsession with recording images. The piece combined comedy with powerful drama and was well received.
Our whole school competition based on the design of a theatre poster for the production of ‘See See TV’ came to a close this week and three winners have been announced. See our website for further details. Each winner receives a set of stationery gifts and a certificate. Well done to all the learners who entered the competition.
The ‘Design A Mask And Costume For The Minotaur’ Competition is still open to all learners and entry forms and further information can be obtained from our school website. The competition closes on Friday, 2nd of May. Completed forms should be returned to Mr De Courcey in the CEPA Office.
Tickets for our forthcoming Dance show are now available from the CEPA Office and can be purchased in advance only. Titled ‘Distraction’, the evening will feature a range of dance performances from learners across the school. Tickets cost £3.00 each or £4.00 with a special wristband. The show takes place on Thursday 22 May at 6pm until 8pm. Refreshments will be served.
FPHS will be hosting a great Tex Mex Arts Quiz Night on Tuesday the 8 July 2014 from 6pm until 8pm. Tickets cost £6.00 per person and include Mexican themed food and a family quiz. If the weather proves pleasant, we hope to host the event on the new rooftop terrace of our new building. Alternatively the event can take place in our heartspace. Tickets are available in advance only and places are strictly limited. Please contact Mr De Courcey for more details.
Revision classes and sessions have taken place over the two week holiday and our Year 10 and 11 learners who are taking exams should have clearly established revision timetables. If you would like further advice on effective revision techniques or are looking for further revision support please speak to your Head of Community or see Mrs Clarke.
Rehearsals start on ‘Boy Soldiers’ this half term and tickets to see the drama written by Mr Dalby are available from the CEPA Office priced £3.00 (no concessions). The original drama will form one component in our celebratory ‘Project Tommy’ event but the show is to be performed fully on the evening of Tuesday the 3 June at 6pm. Places are limited and are available in advance only. For more details, please see Mr De Courcey or Mr Dalby.
We were tremendously proud of our current and former students who took part in the M6 Theatre Company ‘Celebrate!’ Festival over the Spring holidays. Many of our current students were involved in the ‘Falinge Folk’ drama and our former students led the way in the ‘Tales From The Street’ piece. Both performances were well received by the audience at M6 Studio Theatre on Thursday 10 April at 7.00pm.
Well done to our other students whose work was showcased as part of M6 Theatre Company’s Youth Theatre work showreel at the Monday launch. We are very proud of all your achievements in and out of school.
