Fact or fiction, what’s the borough’s favourite?

Date published: 10 April 2014

Residents are being asked to nominate their favourite book of the last 40 years to mark the 40th Anniversary of Rochdale borough.

The book may be for adults or children and of any genre; the only rule is that the book must have been published since 1974. The closing date for nominations is Monday 30 June with the results being announced at Rochdale Literature & Ideas Festival, 24-26 October 2014.

Councillor Peter Williams, Cabinet Member for Economic Development and Customer Services, said: “The more nominations received, the more accurate the results will be so we are encouraging as many people as possible to get involved and nominate so the borough’s favourite book of the last 40 years can be revealed.”

All the votes made by 30 June will be made into a short list then voters will be invited to choose what they believe to be the borough’s favourite book from the last 40 years.

Nominations are to be made online at the council website where you will be asked to enter your name, email address, your chosen book’s title and, if you wish, a comment on why you are nominating the book.
