Courier Fraud
Courier Fraud is one of the fastest growing financial frauds in the UK.

There have been approximately 240 incidents over the last 12 months where victims have been tricked into disclosing bank details and handing over cards to couriers, which has resulted in more than £60,000 being stolen from their accounts.

The fraudsters are ringing elderly people claiming to be from the bank or the Police and state that the victim’s card has been compromised and so needs to be collected.

They suggest that you hang up the phone and call your bank or the Police to see if they are genuine; however they stay on the line and ask you to read out your PIN. Following this they send a taxi or courier to your address to collect your card.

Please remember:

  • Your bank will never attend your home.
  • Your bank and Police will never collect your bank card.
  • Your bank and Police will never ask for your PIN number.
  • To report Courier Fraud please call 101.
