REAG spruced bushes and planted flowers in the car park of St John's Church

Date published: 07 April 2014

On Saturday 5 April members of the Rochdale Environmental Action Group (REAG) cleaned the car park of St John's Church on Dowling Street, removed the bushes, spruced and trimmed the branches of the trees, levelled the soil and planted flowers.

This is the second Saturday they have been carrying out their activities to improve the environment in the car park of the St John's Church.

Ghulam Rasul Shahzad OBE, Secretary of Rochdale Environmental Action Group, said: “Members of the group are not only working with churches, mosques, businesses, residents, councillors, schools, Environmental Management and councillors to improve environment but also raising awareness of its importance to everyone.

"We are pleased to see that people from various parts of the town have set up their own cleaning groups and are contacting REAG to join them. Rochdale is our town and our home and we all should be proud of it. With the current financial situation, we should take responsibility to keep our areas, front and rear of houses and businesses. With our efforts we can make Rochdale more beautiful and flowery town and feel pride in its environment”
