Ashcroft Spring Fair

Date published: 05 April 2014

Ashcroft Sheltered Housing Scheme on Braddocks Close, Hurstead held a Spring Fair today (Saturday 5 April) to raise money for the Ashcroft Social Club.

The fair was the first held for a few years and included stalls, raffles and cakes on sale.

A spokesperson for the Social Club at Ashcroft said: “We haven’t had a fair for a few years. They used to be held regularly and then they stopped so once we moved in, we decided to hold the fair for the residents.”

Previous activities held by the club have included trips to Blackpool and Harrogate as well as meals out for the residents.

“We just wanted to raise some money for the club so we can fund some activities for the residents,” continued the spokesperson.

Residents, friends, family and staff gave donations for raffle prizes and items on sale at the stalls. Any items left over from the fair will then be donated to a local charity shop.

“Everyone has been really good and we have had a lot of donations so that has been great,” said the spokesperson.

It is now hoped that the event will be held regularly at Ashcroft.

The spokesperson added: “We have been busy all day and have had people in throughout the whole day so hopefully we can do it again.”
