Holy Trinity racing to raise money for Springhill Hospice

Staff and members of the PTA at Holy Trinity Primary School in Littleborough will be taking part in the Manchester Marathon to raise money for Springhill Hospice.

Four teachers and four parents will be running the race in a relay style to raise the money.

Teacher Neil Prendergast said: “I heard that you could do the marathon in a relay style so I managed to talk some people from the PTA into getting involved.”

The eight people involved will be split into two teams of four for the race. The race is then split into four sections with each runner running
one section.

“I knew there were some keen runners on the PTA so I got them involved. I don’t think it is an even split but it is around 10km that each runner runs. I think the parents may be a little better than the teachers on the day,” said Neil.

The school decided to raise money for Springhill Hospice after year six pupil Ella Grace Wilkinson raised money for them through a number of different fund-raising activities.

Neil added: “We chose the Hospice because of the fundraising Ella did. We just wanted to support her and what she did.”

Money raised will also go to the PTA at the school - the spilt will be 50/50 between the two causes and all money raised online will go to Springhill Hospice.

“We haven’t set a fundraising total but anything would be good,” said Neil.

The Manchester Marathon takes place on Sunday 6 April.
