Connor Dunning to raise money for a dog wheelchair

Date published: 03 April 2014

Ten-year-old Connor Dunning, from Rochdale, will be taking part in a sponsored swim to raise money for a dog wheelchair for 'Rosie', his Auntie’s dog.

Rosie suffers from cerebellar hypolasia, which affects her brain.

Michelle Hardacker, Connor's mum, said: “He saw this wheelchair that you can get for dogs and wanted to raise the money so Rosie could have one. She is always falling over and he wants to get her this wheelchair.”

Connor hopes to raise £190 from his sponsored swim to cover the entire cost of the wheelchair. As well as the sponsored swim he will also be selling keyrings to raise money.

Connor isn’t new to fund-raising. He has previously raised money for the April Jones charity and DEBRA. He also recently undertook a 27 mile sponsored walk from Rochdale to Bradford to raise money for the PDSA.

“The PDSA saved the dog’s life when everyone else said they wouldn’t be able to. So far he has raised just over £130 for them but still has a few things to auction off,” said Michelle.

Connor's sponsored swim is due to take place in three weeks. Michelle added: “I am so proud of him with everything he has done.”
