Mothering Sunday celebrations

Families across Rochdale have taken the opportunity to tell their mother how wonderful she is and shower her with love and gifts.

Rochdale Online spoke to mothers, sons and daughters out and about today (Sunday 30 March) who were celebrating the special day.

The Kennerley family enjoyed a get together in the Sandbrook on Sandbrook Park with four mothers from the family all celebrating.

The Twynhm family also decided to celebrate Mother’s Day with lunch at The Sandbrook. As well as celebrating Mother’s Day the family were also celebrating two birthdays.

Emma Wild planned a quiet day with her young family. Emma said: “We’re going to take the boys swimming and then go to the park and just have a nice quiet day today. I have been spoilt though.”

Chloe Talbot was spending her day with her children and extended family. She said: “We are going to see some family later on today and are going to have a nice day with them.”

Nicki Richardson spent the day out and about with her family and said: “I got the usual mother’s day gifts which were lovely.”

Sarah Rawes was spending the day with her daughter Lucy Rawes-Moran after Lucy was collected from a sleepover with her Nana. Sarah said: “I haven’t had my present yet because we have come straight out. She won’t tell me what it is so it is a surprise. We are going to go out for a nice tea as well today so I am looking forward to that.”

Wendy Makin spent the day with Pamela Sharpe and decided to grab a nice bite to eat at The Spring Inn. Wendy said: “It has been a lovely day with some lovely weather.”

Jenny Banks spent the day with her daughter Daisy and visited the Springhill Hospice Spring Fair. Jenny said: “My mum died at the hospice so I thought I would come here first. I got some flowers, a card and a chalkboard this morning which was nice.”
