Rochdale Foodbank is moving its centre on 9-10 South Parade – next door. From Monday 7 April, the Foodbank will be operating from 8 South Parade, currently the home of Pacific nightclub.
The reason for the move is because the Post Office is relocating to 9-10 South Parade and works will be starting shortly. Landlords Mark Foxley and Martyn Turner plan to transfer their Pacific nightclub to the larger "more appropriate" venue upstairs above the Post Office.
“This has always been on the cards”, commented Iain Wight, Chairman of Trustees for Rochdale Foodbank. “It was only meant to be a temporary stay at 9-10, and it is amazing we have been there for so long.”
Mr Foxley and Mr Turner said: “We’ve enjoyed working alongside Iain and Margaret and the great team of volunteers in the Foodbank, so it was a pleasure to be able to offer them the space at No 8.
Mr Wight added, “The space is slightly different, and overall costs a little higher, but we believe that this is great outcome for our clients, and we hope we can stay here for as long as there is a need for a Foodbank. “
