Family fun day to celebrate 40 years of GMP

Date published: 21 March 2014

A community fun day will be taking place in Heywood on Sunday 30 March to celebrate 40 years of Greater Manchester Police.

The event will be held at Heywood Civic Centre and will be an occasion for all of the family with free activities including a DJ and entertainers, stalls, games for children of all ages and a photo booth and photographer on hand to take quirky vintage pictures.

Officers will also be highlighting the new Youth Provision Scheme, helping youth services set up activities for young people in some of the antisocial behaviour hotspots in Heywood town centre and Darnhill Estate.

Chief Inspector John Taylor, for the Rochdale Division, said: “GMP has delivered forty years of policing excellence and I am proud to be a part of keeping the people of our borough safe.

“This is a time for officers past and present to celebrate reaching a significant milestone. By working with our partners and the community we will continue to deliver a first class service over the coming years.”
