Littleborough resident Melinda Muldoon will begin an 11-day trek across Nepal on 31 October in aid of Sue Ryder.
Melinda will walk across the Himalayas for seven to eight hours each day.
In preparation for the event, she plans to do lots of dog walking and is attending a practice trek in Snowdonia in July.
Melinda expects the challenge to be tough, both physically and emotionally. She said: “Sadly, my own family have recently gone through a terrible time due to losing my dad to cancer and it just brings home how much funds are needed for a great charity like Sue Ryder.”
Sue Ryder is a a national charity providing health and social care services in local communities when people have been diagnosed with a life-changing illness.
