Fire crews tackle the fire at Laneside Walk, Milnrow
A fire broke out this morning (Thursday 20 March) in the living room of a property on Laneside Walk, Milnrow.
The fire service was called just after 11.00am to reports of a fire on the ground floor of the detached property.
Tony Gooding was in the house at the time the fire broke out but managed to escape before fire crews arrived. Mr Gooding was later taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital for treatment after breathing in smoke and is being kept in tonight for observation.
Mr Gooding saved the family cockatoo from the fire.
It is believed the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
It is understood that Wildhouse Lane was temporarily closed due to the incident.
