Heywood man arrested on suspicion of murder

A 41-year-old man from Heywood has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody.
Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Rawtenstall. Officers attended at about 3.00pm Monday, 17 March to reports that a 40 year old woman had suffered injuries on Hardman Avenue in the town. Sadly she died at the scene. The man was arrested a short time later.
The woman's family have been informed and are being offered support by specially trained officers.
An investigation has been launched by Lancashire Constabulary's Force Major Investigation Team and is in the early stages. No further information is available at this stage.
