Search for Heywood's Heroes
Date published: 07 May 2008
The search is back on to find Heywood’s Heroes. Last year’s inaugural awards were a huge success and organisers New Heart for Heywood are hoping this year’s will be even better. They want to reward the people who make a difference to other people’s lives at a presentation evening at the Civic Centre on Friday 20 June.
To to do that your nominations are needed for a Man of the Year, a Woman of the Year and a Young Person of the Year. To be eligible for the awards, nominees must have made a significant contribution to Heywood life, not be connected in any way to any of the three award-sponsoring organisations, be over the age of 18 for adults and under 18 for young persons and, if nominated for service to community or for volunteering, they shall not have received payment.
Last year’s man and woman of the year, Mike Huck and Betty Fisher, will be on the panel along with representatives from Heywood Rotary, Heywood Township and ex-St Joseph's RC High School head boy Mark Lord. Any money raised from the presentation will go to charity.
