New cycle hub on the way for Rochdale
Construction work will start next month on a new cycle hub for Rochdale, due to open this summer next to the railway station and Metrolink stop.
The hub is being developed to encourage people to cycle to work by providing secure, attractive cycle parking facilities.
Rochdale’s hub – which joins existing local facilities in Bury and Ashton – will have 42 cycle parking spaces (Sheffield stands), with lockers for storing cycle helmets and other cycling accessories.
People who sign up to use the hub will be given secure smartcard access to open an automatic door, with CCTV coverage providing extra security.
Membership of the Rochdale cycle hub will cost £10 per year, which will also give access to hubs already open at Bury and Ashton.
