Rochdale Online sponsors Springhill Hospice

Date published: 15 March 2014

Rochdale Online is sponsoring Springhill Hospice to help encourage residents across the Rochdale borough to support the hospice and their many fundraising events.

Rochdale Online has provided sponsorship of over £9,000 to the hospice in the form of adverts displayed on every page of the news section of the Rochdale Online website and adverts displayed in the Rochdale Online weekly e-newsletter.

The website currently attracts over 100,000 unique site visitors per month, and the e-newsletter currently has over 4,100 recipients and is promoted via the Rochdale Online social media accounts (over 10,000 friends/followers).

Rochdale Online is also writing weekly news updates regarding the Hospice and these updates are also promoted via social media accounts.

As part of the package, Rochdale Online will also be promoting hospice fund raising events with a sponsored link in the events section of the website. A sponsored link is an advertisement on the right hand side of the website which links users directly to information regarding the event.

Sarah Ford, Income Services Manager at Springhill Hospice, said: “This is an ideal opportunity for us to move with the times and put our events and information on Rochdale Online. The advertising is really working for us and we are really pleased and very happy with everything.”

Rochdale Online Director Pauline Journeaux said: "We are now very pleased to help Springhill Hospice. The Hospice provides an important service to the residents of the borough and we are pleased to be able to help the Hospice publicise what they do to a very large audience."

It costs nearly £3m a year to keep the doors of Springhill Hospice open. The Hospice, which provides palliative end of life care, day facilities, Hospice at Home and bereavement counselling services to the people of Rochdale and the surrounding areas, currently receives a third of their running costs from the NHS.

The outstanding £2m then comes directly from donations, legacies, third party fund raising events and indirectly from people donating or buying items from the seven Springhill Hospice charity shops across the borough.
