Boy robbed by two men in Middleton

Date published: 13 March 2014

A 14-year-old boy was robbed by two men in Middleton.

The boy was sitting opposite the Roebuck pub in the town centre when two men approached him.

They demanded that he turn out his pockets and when he pulled out an iPhone they threatened to attack him unless he handed it over.

The victim gave them the phone and the pair ran off in the direction of Tesco.

The incident happened at around 6.45pm on Sunday 9 March 2014.

The first offender is described as white, around 17 years old, 6ft tall and of medium build. He had dark, shaven hair and was wearing a black Adidas tracksuit jacket with red stripes down the sleeves and blue jeans.

The second is white, around 6ft tall and was wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up.

Detective Constable Andrew Robinson said: “Thankfully the boy was not physically hurt but was very shaken by his ordeal.

"I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or who may have seen these boys acting suspiciously in the area to contact police immediately.

“Be careful when you use your phone or other valuables in public, as this may encourage thieves to target you. I would also ask you to be aware of your surroundings when using your phone.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 8701 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
