Oscar winning film to premiere in Rochdale

The Mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Peter Rush will be hosting the UK premiere of the Oscar Winning film '20 Feet from Stardom' on Sunday 23 March at the Odeon, Sandbrook Park, in aid of the Mayor's Charity Appeal.

The film, which won the Best Documentary Oscar at this year’s awards, follows the lives and times of the backing singers behind some of the world’s biggest performing stars. As well as the backing singers, the film features stars such as Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Bette Midler, Sting and  Luther Vandross.

Mayor Rush said: “I am delighted that we have got the rights to premiere this film in Rochdale and I hope that as many people from across the borough will join me watching what promises to be a superb documentary.”

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for students and children and available from the Town Hall reception or by calling the Mayor’s office on 01706 924773. Tickets will be also available on the door on the night (subject to availability).

20 Feet From Stardom is rated PG-13 and not recommended for children under 13 years.
