Date published: 10 March 2014
A man died last Thursday night (6 March) after suffering a suspected heart attack while driving on the M62.
His Vauxhall Insignia veered towards the central reservation, but the driver managed to bring the car to a halt on the hard shoulder.
Police, ambulance and fire services from Heywood and Ashton were called to the exit slip road at junction 20 westbound — Rochdale and Oldham — at around 11.30pm.
Firefighters used a defibrillitator before the man was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
