The Hospice held a very successful curry night on Thursday 6 March. Joanne Ali  presented the event and was aided by chef Hakim Bibi who prepared a chicken curry and vegetable rice.

Members of Hopwood Hall College also attended the event to help the hospice video the evening. The college videoed the event and projected the cookery demonstration into the lounge so everyone could watch.

The evening was concluded with a quiz and those in attendance were shown how to make an authentic Pakistani curry at home.

50 tickets were available for the event and organisers saw them sell out incredibly quickly. There is already a waiting list for the next curry night event.

The Hospice is preparing for their Go Green launch event. The event is not open to the public but will see the Mayor of Rochdale, and a number of other guests, visit the hospice on Wednesday for the launch of Go Green for Springhill which will take place on Friday 16 May.

Last week, a donation was made to the Littleborough Springhill store. When volunteers were unloading the bags of donations to check the items, they came across £2,000.

Staff are unsure if this is a donation to the hospice or if someone has misplaced the money. Sarah Ford from Springhill Hospice said: “If it is a donation then thank you very much to that person but if someone has misplaced the money and doesn’t know where it is then we are happy for them to come and collect the money.”

Anyone who thinks the money is theirs can contact Sarah Ford on 01706 649920.
