Brownies stay away on a Disney adventure

Date published: 07 March 2014

Brownies from the Rochdale East Division have just returned from an unforgettable adventure in Disneyland Paris.

The brownies visited Disneyland as part of their Big Brownie Birthday Celebrations.

In 2014, the brownies will be celebrating their 100th birthday and as part of the celebrations, one challenge is to ‘stay away’ with their brownie friends.

The Rochdale Division chose Disneyland as their destination and after traveling by coach, the girls spent three nights at the Davey Crocket Ranch and two days exploring the Disneyland resort.

Claire, 10, said: “I had a great time in Disney. I have never been on a boat before or been to France. My favourite bit was when I met Rapunzel. I have been on lots of trips and holidays with brownies but this was the best one.

"We all got our Big Brownie Birthday Stay Away badge when we got home.”

The brownies and their leaders worked hard to raise the money for the cost of the tip and raised the money by holding a clothing collection, a Disney quiz night and a bag packing event.

The groups’ leader, Michelle Newell, said: “The girls all had an unforgettable experience in Paris. They all had the chance to experience an international trip away from home with their Brownie friends. The trip abroad enabled four brownie units to get to know each other and have a superb time celebrating their Big Brownie Birthday.”
