Marathon Man
Pupils and staff met with Mr Damian McNulty as part of the preparation for Damian`s marathon run which he is doing in aid of Redwood pupils. This is a fantastic gesture by Damian who takes to the road for the London marathon on 13 April! We wish him well and I would like to urge all parents, carers, governors and staff to sponsor Damian and support him! We really appreciate Damian's efforts.

Chill Factore
A group of students took part in a series of Winter Games activities at the Chill Factore with students from schools across Greater Manchester! Having seen the photos and the films they all had a go at the winter games events!! What a brilliant opportunity!

Skills North West
Well done to those students in Key Stage 4 and Post 16 who attended the Skills North West event to learn about the various opportunities available to them when they have completed their courses. As ever they were all great ambassadors for the school!

Exams time
I know that those students in Year 11 and Bridging Course worked extremely hard in this week`s Functional Skills ICT and Maths exams. Well done to everybody concerned!
Student Council Meeting
The next council meeting will take place on Tuesday 11 March 9.15am.

After School, Youth Clubs provision
Thank you to parents / carers for your support for the extended schools provision. A reminder that the After School Clubs ( 3.15pm every night except Tuesday ) and Youth Clubs programme ( Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings 6pm – 8pm and Saturday morning 10am ) take place each week.

KS4

Students took part in an ICT creative day. Activities included; sewing, using the green screen, making a pod-cast, animation, comic strips and spring patterns. There was a lovely atmosphere in the department and everyone had a great time!

MANTRA has had a new Eddie Stobart driving simulator fitted in their workshop. The motor vehicle pupils had a go at driving a HGV truck and loved every minute! There was a lot of crashes by pupils and staff.

KS3

There will be a new After School Club on Thursday’s after Easter 3:15-4:15pm Sign & Sing with Sue one of our Sign-a-long teachers. “Today Redwood, tomorrow Broadway.”

8/9 Blue & 8/9 Purple are looking forward to finding out who the 15 members of the group will be to represent Redwood as part of the Rochdale ‘LEAF’ week and participate in growing their own crops from seed at B&Q on the 3rd April. They will have the opportunity to harvest their crop later on in the year.

Year 7 Red had a visit from the nurse as part of their ‘People Who Help Us’ topic. They tried on a uniform and had a turn using the stethoscope.

Key Stage 3 enjoyed the fun of pancake races and some even devoured pancakes at break time. Pupils found the staff races very entertaining especially when Mrs Lansom- Smith fell over.

KS5

Last week 6th Formers enjoyed a special treat. Some students had a buffet meal in Manchester’s Peachy Keens Restaurant whilst others enjoyed the sensory experience of Zoolab back at school. Everyone had a fantastic time over the course of the two days and thoroughly enjoyed their reward.

This week on Monday, Saj’s PIP group made pancakes as part of their snacks and drinks skills area. The group enjoyed mixing the ingredients together, having a go at tossing the pancakes and choosing the different toppings to put on.

Some 2nd Years visited the Skills North West event in Manchester. They all had a fab time and managed to pick up lots of goodies.

Damien McNulty an Occupational Therapist for CDT visited 6th Form to give a talk on how he will be running in the London Marathon this year to help raise money for Redwood. If anyone would like to sponsor Damien for this great cause please contact school for more details.

Congratulations to Kerys who has completed her Independent Travel Programme and is now travelling between school / home and her Pre–Internship placement. Well done Kerys.

The Student of the week this week is Adil. Adil has been working really hard on his Pre-Internship placement at Touchstones Museum.

Most Improved Student of the week is Rizwan. Rizwan has been using his voice more to communicate his needs.

Well done to you both, Keep up the good work.
