On 11 February The Falinge Park High School Youth Speaks team came first in the Senior Category of the Zonal Heats held at the Upper School Hall, Bedford High School, Manchester. The team included Natasha Waddington, Ethan Marriott and Abbey Smith. Congratulations to them all.

On 7 Friday March staff dressed up to celebrate World Book Day. Pupils were also invited to enter the Character Cap competition where they were asked to design and wear a hat to school based on an appropriate book character of their choice. The winner of the competition is to win an Ipad2 and other prizes will be given for students making a real effort.

Letters have now been issued for the 2 visits to Liverpool for Year 7 students and we hope that as many as possible Year 7 learners can join us. The visit includes a look at the Liverpool World Museum (including the Creepy Bug House, the Aquarium, the Dinosaur Exhibit, the World Cultures Displays and the Space and Technology Section), the Liverpool Tate Art Gallery, and the Museum of Liverpool which allows you to sit in an old fashioned tram and a look at the dockside in a spectacular way. Letters have been issued through CALL teachers but if you would like another one, please come to the CEPA Office. Places are offered on a first come first served basis. The two visits will take place on Tuesday 13 May for ‘K’ cohort and Friday 16 May for ‘F’ cohort. Pupils will need a packed lunch unless they receive free meals in which case a lunch will be provided. It is going to be a great day and we hope that many Year 7 students will join us.

Tickets are on sale for out 2 major Drama shows this year; ‘Boy Soldier’ and ‘See See TV’. Both shows have now been cast and rehearsals are starting to get underway. Tickets are£3.50 for ‘See See TV’ and £3.00 for ‘Boy Soldier’. There are no concessions. See See TV takes place Thursday 24 April at 7.00pm, and ‘Boy Soldier’ takes place on Tuesday 3 June at 6.00pm. We hope you can make it to both shows as they promise to be very different and we are excited about what we can achieve in our new performance space in the new building. Tickets can be purchased from the CEPA Office.
Year 7 will also have the chance to take place in an ‘Adventurous Pursuits’ weekend in late March at Bowlee Lodge. The weekend will feature a range of team building games and adventurous activities in keeping with the ‘Survival’ topic covered in C.A.L.L. lessons. Places are limited to 50 places and will be issued ion a first come firsts served basis. For more details please see Mr DeCourcey or Mr Ahmed.

Year 11 Arts Award students did us proud with a fantastic Arts Award Expo last week and they are now working on their Arts leadership activities.

Parents can now pay for school meals online. Passwords were issued to parents in early September. If you would like your password to be reissued please contact school via www.falingepark.com. A message can then be sent to school by selecting ‘contact us’ ’enquiry form’. Alternatively please ring 01706 631246. Using this facility alleviates the need for students to carry cash in school.

Finally congratulations to Laila Batool and Sophie Graham for winning the Bigger Challenge Competition!
