Kentmere Primary creates a Little Bit of Sunshine

Date published: 04 March 2014

Kentmere Primary held a ‘Sunshine Day’ last week with the aim of teaching the children about friendship and the best way to treat others.

Each year group took part in a range of activities throughout the day.

Reception and Nursery had the chance to practise their counting on a big smiley face whilst thinking about their friendships.

Year 1 reflected on their friendships with smiley flower faces and wonderful class poetry.

The children in Year 2 used stars as their teme to remember what friendship means to them.

Number bonds helped Year 3 to think about what made them smile and Year 4 built a wall of friendship with individual bricks naming their friends.

Learning international words helped Year 5 children to think about friendship, whilst Year 6 took a serious look at bullying using teamwork to understand some of the issues.

Kentmere’s Headteacher, Mrs Sarah Isberg, said: “What a wonderful day!

“Everyone made such an effort to think about how to treat each other whilst having a great time and learning new skills.

“Thank you to all the parents who turned up in our classrooms. We really enjoyed having you and we hope you will come again next time! Look out for your pictures on our TV in the entrance.”
