Kwirky Kwiz raises £230 for youth projects In Middleton
Date published: 04 March 2014
A 'Kwirky Kwiz' at Middleton Cricket Club on Friday 28 February 2014 raised £230 for youth projects in Middleton.
Over fifty keen quizzers took part in the quiz organised by the Rotary Club of Middleton Youth and Vocational Projects Committee (YVPC).
Questions ranged from a round to name famous dogs, to naming Number 1 Christmas songs, 1970s history and questions on cheese.
Teams had a joker to play for double points, but as this was a 'Kwirky Kwiz' they had to nominate their round without prior knowledge of the subject or how many points were available. There was also a large tombola with various prizes including a voucher for a meal for two.
The 'Kwirky Quartet' team, comprising of Philip Jackson, Barbara Grout, Deborah Davidson and Kathleen Davidson, won the overall quiz. 'The Newcomers' team picked up the wooden spoon prize.
Sue Furby, Chairwoman of Rotary’s YVPC, said: “I’d like to thank everyone for supporting our second Kwirky Kwiz.
"We raised £230 for youth projects in Middleton, which is a little more than last year. The night was a tremendous success."
