Milnrow resident living in 'unfit conditions'

Date published: 03 March 2014

A Milnrow resident is currently living in "unfit conditions" with her two young children and no longer knows where to turn for help.

The property is covered in damp and mould and has been for almost three years.

Wayne Lee Fox, the cousin of the tenant in the property, said: “It is in a bad condition. It is covered in damp and mould and it is not fit for somebody to be living in.”

The condition of the house is also making those living in it ill. Wayne added: “My cousin has just come out of hospital after suffering from MRSA and she has to come home to this which doesn’t help. She also had a cancer scare last year so this is the last thing she needs.”

The house is also lived in by two young girls who are suffering from the damp conditions. “Damp and mould just gets on your chest so it isn’t good for the girls either,” said Wayne.

Wayne says he and his family have tried a number of measures to get the condition of the house improved but have yet to receive help. “We have contacted the landlord but nothing has yet been done about it,” said Wayne.

Rochdale Council has also been contacted with Wayne awaiting a response.

“We just don’t know what to do any more and we need some help with what to do. People shouldn’t have to live like this. These aren’t fit conditions for anyone to live him,” said Wayne.

Rochdale Online has passed the information to Rochdale Council who have said they will pass the information to the right department to be looked at.
