Students visit London to explore the world of science

Date published: 28 February 2014

Science students from Rochdale Sixth Form College travelled to London to listen to lectures from some of the leading names in science as part of their studies.

The students attended three lectures at the Piccadilly Theatre in London to hear inspirational talks from Brian Cox, Simon Watt and Andrea Sella.

The lecture from Simon Watt focused on the science of mutations which was something Applied Science students have recently covered as part of their studies into DNA.

The key note speaker was TV’s Brian Cox, he explained how the work carried out at CERN has been used to prove the Higgs Boson Theory.

Ellen Kershaw, a Biology and Chemistry student at Rochdale Sixth Form College, said: “I had a fantastic day, the lectures have really inspired me to continue to study science in the future.”
