Councillor Colin Lambert, Leader of Rochdale Borough Council, said: “Our thoughts are with Fusilier Lee Rigby’s family today and we hope now that justice has been served they can find peace. We will continue to offer Lee’s family our support.
“Lee was a local lad and the sacrifices he made for our country will never be forgotten in Rochdale borough.
"We want to thank our borough’s diverse communities for their continued sympathetic and respectful response.”
Councillor Alan McCarthy, Rochdale Borough Council’s Lead Member for the Armed Forces, said: “Members of our Armed Forces serve their country and lay down their lives to protect us from those who threaten our country’s values and way of life. Fusilier Lee Rigby’s murder was a tragic waste of life of a true hero.
"Today Lee and his family have finally received justice.”
