RBH clean-up reaches 'Heady' heights

Date published: 18 February 2014

Chief Executive Gareth Swarbrick led a team of Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) volunteers into action as they carried out a neighbourhood clean-up at Heady Hill in Heywood.

Armed with litter-pickers and bin bags, the group braved the winter chill to remove items including cans, crisp packets and broken umbrellas.

The event was organised by Neighbourhood Officer Lisa Halstead who drew support from volunteers around the organisation to carry out the clear up.

RBH caretakers were also on hand to help with the collection and disposal of rubbish which left the area looking significantly cleaner.

All RBH employees are allocated volunteering days each year to take part in community projects and the Heady Hill event was just one of many activities that are carried out to help tenants.

Among those who joined Gareth and Lisa at the clean-up was RBH Neighbourhood Manager Phil Cole.

Phil said: “Despite the cold weather it was very satisfying to go to one of our neighbourhoods and carry out work that would directly benefit residents.
“We had colleagues from different teams across RBH coming together to really make a difference.”
