Over the New Year period, India Law, a pupil from Wardle Academy visited Chile and Easter Island to pursue her passion for diving. India Law, a Year 9 pupil, is a keen diver and would like to become a Marine Biologist specialising in coral conservation or the protection of sharks.
India spent a week diving in Pichidangui, Chile, as well as a spending a week on Easter Island. In addition to her diving activities, India had a private tour of the University de Chile marine biology labs and visited the Rapa Nui National Park on Easter Island.
India said: “My highlight of the trip was the night dive I did at Easter Island as I haven’t done one before. It was quite a scary experience, being in the water with only a torch to see, but I saw a lot more animals, and at night Coral turns itself inside and feeds off other corals.
"Easter Island is a very unique place to dive as the coral forms on lava flows.”
Two years ago, India discovered scuba diving in the Maldives, and having really enjoyed her experience, she qualified as an open water diver.
While she was there she also did her Nitrox course involving an exam and one dive.
India then did her Advanced Open Water Certificate where she had to complete five dives.
Over the Easter holidays, India is going on a yacht for a week in Egypt and completing a Night Dive Speciality course.
