Prayers for calm and the end to the misery brought by severe weather
Date published: 16 February 2014
In the wake of hurricane style winds, storm and torrential rain that has left 1000’s of homes and many families losing their livelihoods, the Rochdale Council of Mosques urged all the mosques in the town to make special prayers.
Imam Chishti MBE, of the Rochdale Council of Mosques, said: "Our own region suffered from some extreme weather and severe gale force winds and is only appropriate for people of faith to offer prayers asking God almighty to bring some ease to the affected areas.
"Whilst politicians and officials argue about who is to blame for the flooding and subsequent damage and misery as a result of it all, we have asked all the congregations at Friday prayers to make a special prayer for the people of our land who are suffering right now, many of whom have still not recovered from the storms since Christmas.”
