Sarah Jones Rochdale Sixth Form College took to the skies for a charity parachute jump
A teacher and student from Rochdale Sixth Form College took to the skies this week for a charity parachute jump.
Art Teacher, Stephanie Green and student, Sarah Jones, parachuted from 10,000ft to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust, and have so far managed to raise £950 thanks to generous donations from staff, students and family.
After their first attempt was called off due to adverse weather conditions the plucky pair had to wait two weeks to do the jump where they reached speeds of up to 120mph before the parachute was deployed and they floated safely back to the ground.
Stephanie Green, Art Teacher at Rochdale Sixth Form College, said: “The jump was exhilarating and a fantastic experience. We are delighted to have raised a large amount of money for such a great cause. Thank you to students and staff for their support.”
The charity provides expert treatment and support to young people aged 13 - 24 diagnosed with cancer in the UK.
