Sixth form students take a walk on the wild side

Date published: 16 February 2014

Applied Science students from Rochdale Sixth Form College got hands on with some very special guests last week.

Meerkats, snakes, a skunk, tortoise, owls and a chameleon stole the show in a Biodiversity lecture delivered by Zoo2U.

Students were able to examine the animals in close quarters as part of their coursework on Chester Zoo and biodiversity. Brave students even got to handle Haribo a corn snake.

Laura Harrison, Applied Science teacher at Rochdale Sixth Form College, said: "It was an incredible experience for the pupils to get so close to the animals.

"The biodiversity lecture builds on what the students learnt on their recent field trip to Chester Zoo.

“Fun, interactive guest lectures like this, really help to bring to life the theory that the students have been studying.”
