Hare Hill Road to be one-way from Monday

Date published: 13 February 2014

One of Littleborough's busiest roads will become one-way on Monday to facilitate the introduction of traffic calming measures. The work is expected to take seven weeks and be completed by 11 April.

Traffic will only be able to travel up Hare Hill Road from Church Street to Whitelees Road. Traffic wanting to go down Hare Hill Road will be diverted down Whitelees Road and Featherstall Road. There will be no waiting permitted between Church Street and Barehill Street

The road will be closed completely from Church Street to Barehill Street on the 23 and 30 March.

During the seven weeks, the one-way system from Victoria Street to Albert Street will be lifted.

The work is part of a series of traffic calming measures being introduced in Littleborough's main shopping area. There will be 20mph speed limit, speed humps and a junction plateau at the Victoria Street crossroads. Work will also take place to reconstruct the footpaths.

Additionally, from Friday 14 February until the 27 February, the Todmorden Road end of Victoria Street will be closed while work takes place to connect a gas main. Traffic will be diverted via Lodge Street, Town House Road and Newall Street. While this work is going on there will be traffic lights on Todmorden Road at the Victoria Street junction.
