Hopwood Primary wins Athletic Tournament
Date published: 11 February 2014
Primary school children from all over Heywood competed against each other in an Athletics Tournament hosted by Siddal Moor. The overall winners were Hopwood Primary.
Students from Siddal Moor Sports College were the team leaders and helped organise and coach the children who competed in a wide range of activities including:
• Standing long jump
• Vertical jump
• Speed bounce
• Chest push
• Soft javelin
• Various track events
The whole event was organised by Liz Hughes from St Luke’s Primary School who is the chairperson of Heywood Primary Schools PE Association and was attended by the class teachers and parents of the children competing.
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by everyone and the team spirit amongst the students was evident across all the schools competing.
Events like this are held throughout the year and build good relationships between the primary schools and Siddal Moor.
