Two's company but 400+ is definitely a crowd!

Springy the Hospice Frog has a new best friend in Hope the Bear, the mascot from Dr Kershaw's Hospice, and the pair have come together this year to launch the annual Hospice to Hospice sponsored walk.

At 10.30 am on Sunday 27 April Springy the Frog will be getting together Springhill Hospice's supporters and setting them on their way on a 7.25 mile circle route, with a stop off to see Hope at Dr Kershaw's Hospice in Oldham. Meanwhile, at 10.30 am over the border in Oldham, Hope the Bear will be sending her supporters on the same circle route but with them calling in at Springhill for a half way tea break and a cuddle with Springy.

Last year saw around 150 walkers set off from Springhill, raising over £5,500 and 300+ setting off from Dr Kershaw's. This year Springhill is hoping that even more will take part in the sponsored walk for Springhill Hospice.

"The walk is a bit more than an afternoon stroll but only half the Midnight Walk's 13 miles so it appeals to Sunday strollers and serious walkers alike. And with no time limit there is no pressure," said Lillie Winterbottom, Springhill's Community Fundraiser. She added: "It's a great opportunity to show support for our hospice and to recognise the whole hospice movement by visiting our neighbouring hospice".

"It's £5 to enter including a heart warming mug of soup on returning to the Hospice and a certificate to show everyone how well you've done".

To register for the event call Springhill Hospice Fundraising department on 01706 649920 or email Lillie on lillie.winterbottom@nhs.net

Older children are welcome, as are pets.
