Oulder Hill Community School

Date published: 10 February 2014

The Year 8 and 9 girls’ football team had their final league games last week. They worked hard to get to this final stage! The Year 8 team came fifth and the Year 9 team came fourth. Well done to all the girls involved: The Year 8 team: Lydia Entwistle, Niamh Entwistle, Zoya Gill, Zara Bradley-Ahmed, Lucy Perrin, Shannon Doyle, Jessica Connor and Lauren Saville. The Year 9 team: Olivia Storto, Jessica Harrison, Aaminah Rani, Alina Akbar and Samiya Karamat.

Well done to the Year 9 boys’ five-a-side football team who came joint second in the Rochdale Borough Finals along with Siddall Moor High School. Oulder Hill beat Kingsway Park 1- 0 and Hollingworth School 2-1, drew against the eventual winners Falinge 1-1 and lost against Siddall Moor 2-0 (2 very harsh penalties awarded against Oulder Hill). The boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were a credit to the school.

Congratulations to: Steven Nairn, Brandon Coughlan, Joe Wrest, Will Moore, Luke Straszewski, Daniel Cryer and Jamie Ogden. Mr Pickles’ Man of the Tournament was Luke Straszewski for some outstanding saves throughout the competition.

School closed for half term at 2:50pm on Friday 14 February. School reopens at 8:30am on Tuesday 25 February due to an INSET Day on Monday 24. We hope you have a nice, relaxing break, and look forward to welcoming all students back rested and ready to learn on Tuesday 25.
