Facebook group set up for ‘ex-pats’ of Rochdale

Date published: 06 February 2014

A Facebook group has been set up for ex patriots of Rochdale. The group, which began in January this year, is aimed at people who have lived, worked or who are any way connected to Rochdale.

Set up by Shelly Buxton, Jackie Kershaw and John Murphy, the group allows members to reminisce about Rochdale and post pictures of Rochdale, including old school photos and work photos.

John Murphy said: “Almost all of our original group have Irish ancestry, which was a joke between the original group as to 'Ex-Pats'. We know how diverse the ethnicity of modern Rochdale is, which is why we welcome everybody of every race.”

The group is friendly and welcoming to new members.

In the short space of time that the group has been running, old school friends have already been reunited and the number of members is growing daily.

John added: “Of course people still living in Rochdale are very welcome in the group as it is them who may be able to make connections really happen.”
