Driving Inspiration Programme KS3 – next week.

Final plans are now in place for phase 2 part of this Winter Paralympics programme which will involve students from Redwood and Oulder Hill working together for 4 days on a creative project. The objective of the project will be for pupils in KS3 to learn about the Paralympic history and its values – Determination, Inspiration, Courage and Equality and how these can be applied to our everyday life. Pupils will also learn about where the Paralympics are taking place, Sochi in Russia, their folklore and how swans migrate between the UK and Russia! Finally pupils will design and create a large moveable swan and extra firebirds and compose a piece of music reflecting flight and sledge hockey! What a great week ahead.

International Inspiration Programme

Unfortunately due to the political situation in Cairo, the decision was made to defer our scoping trip to the Egyptian capital until the area is more stable. We have been asked by the British Council to work with the Egyptian Paralympic committee to support the planning and provision for sports activities for youngsters with disabilities. When the visit does take place it will be a wonderful opportunity for Redwood School to further extend its links with schools in Egypt.

`RedAid’ – Parents / Carers information

Parents / Carers may be aware of a recent development within school in which we are working towards `RedAid` becoming charitable status to support fundraising activities to provide additional resources for our youngsters. After the first initial meetings, a series of events are being planned which parents / carers can become fully involved throughout the year. More details will be circulated in the next few weeks.
