Blackpool Council are not undertaking work in Milnrow

Date published: 01 February 2014

Rochdale Council has confirmed that they have not employed Blackpool Council to undertake any work in the Milnrow area.

Residents in and around the vicinity of Newfield View, Milnrow were concerned that the council had brought in outside forces to deal with maintenance in regards to street lighting.

A spokesperson for Rochdale Borough Council said: “We have not employed Blackpool Council to carry out any maintenance work to lighting columns on and in the vicinity of Newfield View, Milnrow.

“Our street lighting service provider - Eon Energy - also has a contract with Blackpool Council for maintaining its street lighting so it is assumed one of its vehicles carrying Blackpool livery had been seen in Milnrow.

“We will ask Eon to refrain from using vehicles with Blackpool livery in the Rochdale borough to avoid any further confusion in the future.”
