Hamer Community Primary School
Our Year 6 Community Cohesion Ambassadors did us all proud again this week during their session with our friends from Marland Hill. The group are exploring themes such as stereotyping, judging people by appearances, what makes a peacemaker and bullying behaviour. Well Done to all.
It has been great to see so many children in school taking up the Year 6 additional booster sessions. Classes are: Wednesday - 8.20 – 8.50am & Thursday - 8.20 – 8.50am and 3.15 – 3.50pm
It is vital that if your child is in Year 6 they attend all the booster sessions.
As you know, we love having parents and carers joining us for both class assemblies (Thursday 9-10am) and celebration assembly (Friday 9-10am). It is great to see so many of you supporting your children and our school. The children love having this support and as a school community it is a chance to celebrate successes and respect achievements. As such, please ensure that mobile phones are either switched off or are on silent and please do respect how special these assemblies are to the children showcasing their work or receiving awards by not playing on mobile phones
As you will have seen, the traffic police were recently observing cars at the start of the school day. We are continually being contacted by parents regarding concerns linked to inappropriate parking and driving in and out of the school grounds. You are all responsible for your own actions and making appropriate parking choices and decisions. Calder Street is an entrance to the car park only. It is not acceptable to turn back down Calder Street through the school No Entry signs on the way out as this is potentially putting our children in danger when they are crossing the road. In addition parking on the pavement and doing U-turns on Calder Street is not acceptable. The registrations of cars who continue to do this will be highlighted on future newsletters.
We accept that it is busy at the start of and at the end of the school day, however, we need to work together to make this work as ultimately this is about the safety of our children.
Please ensure that all adults who you wish to pick up your child are detailed on the contact form. Adults (over 18 years of age) can be added via your child’s class teacher or the school office. Children will not be released to anyone who is not on the relevant contact form. Thank you for your co-operation, as you know this system is in place to ensure that we are keeping all of our children safe.
During this cold spell of weather, please ensure that your child has sufficient warm clothes on for playtimes, dinnertimes and before and after school. Hats, scarves and gloves are also recommended. Thank You.
