Apprenticeship shop open in Middleton Arndale

Date published: 22 January 2014

Hundreds of apprenticeship vacancies for 16-24 year olds are available in an apprenticeship pop-up shop in Middleton Arndale that was officially opened last week.

Visitors to the pop-up shop will be able to browse and apply for hundreds of live apprenticeship vacancies and will be given support and guidance from experienced training industry staff.

Situated on the ground floor in the old O2 shop premises, the shop is the first of its kind in Greater Manchester and will provide job seekers and employers with all the advice they need in to apply for a job, or recruit an apprentice.

The apprenticeship shop is funded by the Greater Manchester New Economy and is the brain-child of Work Based Learning Skills & Participation Officer Andy Turner.

Rochdale Council member for Children, Schools and Families, Councillor Donna Martin says: “The idea of the shop is simple; if you are aged 16-24 you can come in and apply for a host of live apprenticeship vacancies in a wide range of industries.

“If you are an employer and want to enquire about recruiting apprentices then we will be there to help. Because of Government grants, there has never been a better time to recruit apprentices.”

Andy Turner adds: “Specialist information, advice and guidance from qualified careers professionals will be available 3pm -5pm on Mondays and Tuesdays and specialist training provider staff will be available all of the time.”

The shop will be open until the end of March.
