Faisal Hussain locked up for handling stolen car

Date published: 22 January 2014

Faisal Hussain (9/8/1993), of Rochdale has been sentenced nine months in a young offender institution after admitting handling the stolen car.

Just hours after a BMW car was stolen outside Huddersfield Royal Infirmary it was seen being taken off a loader outside a house in Rochdale, the court heard.

Four men caught on CCTV were seen smashing the £12,000 car driver’s door window with a crowbar before they eventually got inside on 17 November 2012.

It is believed the gang made use of a sophisticated technique to enable them to drive away with the car. An electronic key programmer was used to get the vehicle’s computer details which were then programmed on to a blank key.

However, two hours later the police in Rochdale received a report of it being unloaded at an address in Rochdale and when police investigated the vehicle was found with a plastic bag over the broken window.

Hussain was found inside the property. He claimed he had let a traveller called Mikey unload it there as a favour but subsequently accepted knowing that the car was in fact stolen. Following inquiries revealed that three days before the theft Hussain had ordered an electronic key programmer online.
