Black box and bus station demolition assessment starts
Date published: 20 January 2014
The first stages of the demolition of the old bus station and the black box are being undertaken.
Demolition should take 34 weeks to complete and the bus station will be the first of the two buildings to be assessed and demolished.
Steve Balyski, Operations Manager of Connel Brothers, the company brought in to do the demolition, said: “Both buildings need to be assessed and secured before the demolition but once that has taken place we will start with the bus station, which has to be hoarded first.”
After the bus station, work will take place on the Black Box. Once assessed the building will be sheeted, scaffolded and then demolished.
