Metrolink testing

Tram testing in Rochdale town centre
Tram testing has been taking place along Drake Street to check that the signaling and communication systems are working correctly.
Peter Cushing, Transport for Greater Manchester’s Metrolink Director, said: “We are currently undertaking two days of testing to check that the signaling and communication systems are working correctly.
“The current blockade of Metrolink services between Rochdale Railway Station and Central Park provided us with an ideal opportunity to undertake two full days testing. This removes the need to perform the tests at night which is not only cost effective but also prevents disruption to residents.
“We’re making good progress with the new Metrolink extension through Rochdale town centre and are on course for completion in spring this year.”
