Pupils poetry workshop has gone to their head!
Date published: 18 January 2014
Poet Ian Bland, who has produced several books aimed at primary school children, enthralled around 120 children from St Edwards, Castleton and Brimrod Primary schools at Matthew Moss High School, with his wonderful poems about school life.
The Performance Poetry Workshop, which was organised and funded by Matthew Moss High School and Rochdale Library Service, was based on one of his books, Go To The Head!
After listening to the hilarious poems, learners were encouraged to have a go and create their own poetry.
Ray Stearn, Rochdale’s Young Persons Library Worker, linked up with Matthew Moss to provide this fabulous experience for the children.
Mr Down from Matthew Moss said: "It was a brilliant workshop, one we hope to repeat in the future. It was really rewarding to see the young learners having so much fun with their poetry.
"Ray Stearn has provided us with several links to the Library Service that are having a positive effect on young peoples’ learning.
"We would like to thank Rochdale Library Service for this collaborative effort."
